India’s carpet story goes back centuries. The craft is widely traced to the Mughal era, when Persian weaving traditions found their way into India and evolved through local hands, eventually making regions like Bhadohi and Mirzapur synonymous with fine carpet-making.

It was in Mirzapur, at the heart of this carpet belt, that OBEETEE came to life in 1920. Founded by F.H. Oakley, F.H. Bowden and J.A.L. Taylor, the brand began by bringing together the region’s finest craftsmen and has since grown into a century-old name in Indian handmade carpets. Today, its legacy continues through generations of weavers, while its designs bring this heritage into contemporary homes.

We’ve rounded up some picks that are made to bring a little extra grandeur to your festive spaces.

Jeev-Van Hand Knotted Woollen And Viscose Rug

OBEETEE

A dense forest world unfolds across the rug, with animals gathered into a shared landscape of movement and coexistence. Gond-inspired marks give the surface energy, turning the forest into a living story.

Ottoman Echo Hand Tufted Woolen Rug By Eeshaan Kashyap

OBEETEE

From the Now-salgia collection designed by Eeshaan Kashyap, the Ottoman Echo is a hand-tufted piece. Set against a rich blue-hued base, embracing a broken wave pattern spread across, the rug reimagines the grandeur of Ottoman textiles via a statement-making modern lens. The design on the canvas is an abstract mirror that was once found on royal-silk velvets.

Medallion Pendant Hand Knotted Woollen And Viscose Rug By Smitha Zachariah

OBEETEE

An irregular silhouette lets Medallion Pendant echo the shape of a piece of jewelry rather than a traditional rectangular floor plan, hand-knotted in wool and viscose.

Tianlu Hand Tufted Woollen Rug

OBEETEE

An intricate pattern in white compliments shades of blue and rust, making the scene look as beautiful as the night sky covered with stars and snowcapped mountains in the silk route.

Ismenia Hand Tufted Woollen Rug

OBEETEE

A rich red ground gives Ismenia its warmth, while Persian floral motifs bring movement and ornament across the surface. The rug has the presence of a heritage piece, but its hand-tufted construction and balanced pattern make it approachable for everyday rooms.
