Two years after the launch of the iconic Première Édition Originale, a bestseller inspired by the No. 5 perfume bottle, Chanel has unveiled an innovative extension to this concept with the Première Sound Watch. This unique piece combines the elegance of a necklace watch, or montre sautoir, with the practicality of a pair of wired earphones, or in-ear monitors (IEMs), seamlessly integrated into the design.The design of the Première Sound Watch is rooted in Chanel’s rich heritage. The watch’s octagonal case is reminiscent of the cap of the iconic No. 5 perfume bottle, which in turn was inspired by the shape of Paris’s Place Vendôme. The original Première watch, launched in 1987, featured a simple quartz movement housed in a gold-plated steel case. The 2022 revival, the Première Édition Originale, enhanced this classic design with a chain-link bracelet interwoven with black leather, mirroring the shoulder strap of Chanel’s famous handbags.
The Première Sound Watch builds on this legacy, extending the chain-link bracelet into a luxurious necklace. The IEMs, designed in matching black and gold, are adorned with Chanel’s signature emblem, protected under sapphire covers. The earphone cable is ingeniously looped through the necklace and includes a remote for controlling music and phone functions.
